FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a doctor’s referral for ICBC treatment?
No. Under the current ICBC regulations, you can access Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, RMT, Chiropractic Care, and Acupuncture immediately following your accident without a note from your GP. Please note that a doctor’s referral may be required after the pre-approved period (12 weeks after your MVA date).

What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please have your ICBC Claim Number and your adjuster/claim specialist’s contact details ready. If you have any hospital discharge papers or imaging results (X-rays/MRIs) related to the accident, please bring those as well. If your 12-week pre-approved period has passed and you have already received approval confirmation from your adjuster, please send that to us ahead of your appointment.
Will I have to pay anything out of pocket?
For most services, there are no user fees – your treatment is covered by ICBC. Please note that Registered Massage Therapy (RMT) sessions have a $5 user fee. There are no additional top-up or gap fees for any other services.
What if my 12 weeks are already up?
If your 12 weeks are already up, we can request approval from your ICBC adjuster directly for your first visit. Once approved, we will conduct a thorough assessment and submit a treatment plan to ICBC requesting further funding approval for your additional treatment needs.
Can I see multiple therapists?
Yes. ICBC recommends using your pre-approved sessions to try out the different treatment modalities available, so you have the chance to see what helps the most with your recovery needs. Coordinating your care between our specialists allows for a collaborative treatment approach – ensuring you are not being over-treated or given conflicting advice.
What if my injuries are preventing me from returning to work?
Our Kinesiologists and Physiotherapists specialize in Functional Capacity Evaluations. We work with you to determine your physical readiness for work and can design a “Gradual Return to Work” (GRTW) plan. This clinical data helps your ICBC adjuster understand the physical limitations of your role and supports your recovery timeline.
Can I switch my ICBC care to your clinic if I’ve already started elsewhere?
Yes. During the first 12 weeks, we can reach out to ICBC directly to let them know you are switching and confirm how many pre-approved sessions you have remaining. After the 12-week period, we can reach out to ICBC directly and request the funding approval to do a fresh assessment and new treatment plan for you.
Do I need to wait until my car is fixed to start treatment?
No. Your health claim is separate from your vehicle’s damage claim. We strongly recommend starting your initial assessment within the first 72 hours of the accident. Early intervention for whiplash and concussions significantly reduces the risk of chronic pain and long-term complications, regardless of the status of your vehicle repairs.
