Before Your First Visit: The WSBC Checklist
To ensure your treatment is covered at no cost to you, please complete these three steps before your appointment:
Report to Your Employer
Notify your supervisor, manager, or HR representative immediately. Documentation of the injury at the workplace is the first step in validating your claim.
File Your Claim with WorkSafeBC
Call the Teleclaim center at 1.888.922.3322 or file online to start your claim. Once processed, you will receive a Claim Number, which we require for all billing.
Book Your Assessment with Us
When booking, simply advise our reception team that you have a WorkSafeBC claim and provide your claim number. We will handle the direct billing and clinical reports from there.
The "Return-to-Work" Advantage
Our expertise goes beyond the treatment table. We bridge the gap between injury and your specific job demands:
- Functional Assessment : We analyze the physical requirements of your job (lifting, reaching, standing) to tailor your rehab.
- Active Strengthening : Gym-based exercises designed to rebuild the specific muscle groups you use at work.
- Ergonomic Coaching : Guidance on posture and workstation setup to prevent re-injury once you return.
- Direct Billing : We handle all paperwork and progress reports for your Case Manager.
Common Workplace Injuries We Treat
Workplace injuries often stem from repetitive strain or sudden mechanical failure. We provide targeted rehab for:
- Lifting & Overload Injuries: Acute back strains, disc herniations, and shoulder tears from heavy manual labor.
- Repetitive Strain (RSI): Carpal Tunnel, Tennis Elbow (Epicondylitis), and Tendonitis caused by assembly or desk work.
- Postural Dysfunction: Chronic neck and upper back pain linked to poor ergonomics and prolonged sitting.
- Slips, Trips & Falls: Fractures, ligament sprains (Ankles/Knees), and soft tissue trauma.
FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to pay for my Physiotherapy sessions?
No. If you have an active, approved WSBC claim, your treatments at Coquitlam Physio & Health are fully covered. We bill WorkSafeBC directly, so there are no out-of-pocket costs or user fees for you.
How soon can I start treatment after a work injury?
You should start as soon as possible. You do not need to wait for your claim to be fully “accepted” to have your initial assessment, provided you have already reported the injury and have a claim number.
What is a "Gradual Return to Work" plan?
If your injury prevents you from jumping straight back into full duties, we coordinate with you, your employer, and your Case Manager to design a modified schedule. This allows you to return to light duties while continuing your rehab.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please bring your WSBC Claim Number, your Personal Health Number (BC Services Card), and the name/contact info of your employer and WSBC Case Manager if you have it.
How long do I have to file a claim and start treatment?
Generally, you have one year from the date of your injury to file a claim with WorkSafeBC. However, for the most effective recovery, we recommend starting physiotherapy within 60 days of the injury. If you wait longer than 60 days to begin treatment, we are required to get special pre-approval from your WSBC officer before your first session can be covered.
What if my claim is still "Pending" or "Under Review"?
You don’t have to wait in pain. WorkSafeBC will typically cover your Initial Assessment fee even if your claim is eventually disallowed, provided you have a valid claim number. For subsequent treatments while a claim is pending, you may choose to pay privately and we will fully reimburse you once the claim is accepted and WSBC takes over the billing.

Does WorkSafeBC reimburse me for travel to the clinic?
Yes. If your claim is accepted, you are entitled to reimbursement for your travel expenses to and from your appointments. For 2026, the mileage rate is $0.73 per kilometre. We recommend keeping a log of your appointment dates and total mileage; you can submit these for reimbursement through your online WorkSafeBC portal or by emailing their travel department.
